Pilot States
Because we want to make sure that CoStep works in reality rather than in theory, we are testing it in two states: Massachusetts and New Mexico.
Massachusetts
With a high concentration of both cultural heritage and vital records repositories and a long history of disaster preparedness for these organizations, Massachusetts is an ideal state in which to test the framework. Gregor Trinkaus-Randall at the Mass. Board of Library Commissioners, and Michael Comeau at the Mass. Archives are heading the CoStep in Massachusetts project.
New Mexico
Having already begun work with the Dept. of Homeland Security in their state, archivists at the State Records Center and Archives have agreed to use CoStep as a way to streamline the process of preparing for a disaster in their state.
